...

It’s estimated that 16.2 million adults in the United States, or 6.7 percent of American adults, have had at least one major depressive episode in a given year. That’s a lot of people. Like many people, they will either try to live with it and let it resolve naturally or they will find someone to help them. Typically, many people will find a psychiatrist or perhaps a counselor to talk to.

A large percentage of Americans will get 2 to 3 or more major bouts of depression in their life. Many times these episodes of depression will reseed naturally or with some help from medications like SSRIs.

Treatment Resistance

However, some people do get multiple major depressive episodes and they become chronic, or the depression never really go away. At least 30% of those who try two or more antidepressants continue to have serious symptoms. That’s called treatment-resistant depression. Treatment resistant depression takes something more than just medications. It’s something more than just talking to a psychotherapist.

At Clear Mind, we have found a method that works for people with treatment resistant depression, up to 70%-80% effective.

Combination of Treatments

So, then how do you help this treatment resistant kind of depression? What we have found at Clear Mind Treatment is that you need a more truly holistic approach to treating depression. You can’t just treat it with one method. You have to treat it with multiple combinations of modalities of treatment.

If you look at the word holistic, it really means ‘on a whole,’ and that’s how we look at depression here at Clear Mind. We look at it from a mind-body-soul kind of way. We treat the brain, we treat the mind, and we also help someone find that meaning in life again, which losing that meaning many times is why people get depressed in the first place.

Different Modalities of Treatment

Combination treatment is the real way to treat hard lifelong depression. If you combine the modalities of treatment that we have, which includes ketamine, TMS, EMDR, group psychotherapy, virtual reality therapy, psychotherapy, and hypnotherapy, that is a real way a brain can change and get out of depression. That is the magic of combination therapy. You have to hit the brain with as much as you can in order for it to allow for changes to happen.

Neuroplastic State

By forcing the brain to go into this place called a neuroplastic state, it will allow the talk therapy, in the form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to help the person change the actual neural pathways of the brain, which then leads to better and more clearer thinking, coping skills, self soothing techniques, self awareness, mindfulness techniques, distress tolerance, and all the things a person needs to combat the depression when depression tries to come.

If you have any questions about any of this, we’re always happy to talk. Give us a call any time.

We wish you good health!
