Tanya Smit is a double board-certified nurse practitioner in both family medicine and psychiatric mental health. She has been a nurse for over 18 years, a family nurse practitioner for over 4 years, and is also a psychiatric nurse practitioner, specializing in addictions, drug and alcohol rehab, including Suboxone waivered treatment, and mental health treatments. She utilizes western allopathic medications and therapies along with complimentary and natural remedies to customize a more holistic approach to mental and physical health. She is empathetic and listens to her patients in order to develop the best therapeutic alliance with her patients in order to provide the best plan of care for her clients needs. 

She is an avid reader of not only medical or psychiatric journals from around the world, but of magazines and articles about archeological discoveries of ancient civilizations and of native flora and fauna species, including research into new native plants and their prospective mental health healing properties due to her background in anthropology and archaeology, including the use of Ketamine and psychedelics research. She is an animal lover and a protector of animals, including cats and dogs, and is a proponent of animal therapy.
